Make your own microwave popcorn

Who knew that you don’t need to buy microwave popcorn to make popcorn in the microwave? Not me until recently. All you need is a brown paper lunch bag, a stapler, and some regular popcorn. I know you’re probably thinking “staples in the microwave?!?” It’s ok, really. Something to do with the staples being shorter than the micro waves. In any event, I have used this method, and no sparks. I was so happy to learn about this way of popping popcorn (which we eat nearly daily in my house) because it is a.) cheaper than pre-packaged microwave popcorn, and b.) there are way way less calories than microwave popcorn even if you put some melted butter on top after it’s popped.

Make Your Own Microwave Popcorn:

You’ll need:

1 brown paper lunch bag

stapler

1/4 cup popcorn

Directions:

Place popcorn in bag, fold over the top and staple closed with a staple on either end (they can’t be next to each other), like so:

Microwave on high, with the bag lying down, the bottom facing up for 2 minutes  (or you can use your popcorn setting) or until popping slows down (just like regular microwave popcorn). Enjoy!
