Long before her hit self-titled television show, Rachael Ray got her foodie start growing up in an Italian cooking family in upstate New York. She’d published several books of personal recipes before launching the Food Network shows 30 Minute Meals and Tasty Travels. Her cooking empire now consists of three TV shows, a magazine and a nonprofit organization, Yum-o!, that helps kids develop better eating habits.
On April 29th, Rachael will with release her newest cookbook, the “Yum-o!: The Family Cookbook,” a departure from past releases, as it is designed to encourage both kids and parents to get in the kitchen and cook healthy recipes together. It is also unique in that it features many healthy recipes created by kids from around the country. Rachael will donate her author fee and her per book royalty for this book to her Yum-o! organization, which she started to address these issues, raise funds/scholarships for culinary programs and to feed hungry American kids.
