Blueberry Season
Blueberries are high in antioxidants and low on the glycemic index – that means you can eat handfuls of these guys and not have your blood sugar go all out of whack. July is prime season in the United States and Canada for picking all berries, so go for it and try one of Rach's dessert or breakfast recipes below.
A note on storage – no matter how tempting it is, resist the urge to wash the blueberries when you get home from the market (unless you plan to eat them right away). Excess moisture can hasten the rotting process, so wash them just before you plan to use or serve them.
