Live from book tour!

I love book signings because I get to spend a few hours doing nothing but talking to you guys about what you like and what you want to see more of in my books and on TV. Last night we kicked off the book signings in New York City’s Barnes & Noble. We were rocking and rolling until after 9:30! Boy was my hand tired afterwards! It was well worth it and I wanted to share some pictures from last night with you guys:

Check out how many books this person brought? I love it! She’s got me covered!

Here I am with little Ryann-how cute is she?

Lots of people asked questions and gave me new ideas for recipe categories. We talked alot about Yum-o!, my kids charitable organization so you can be sure to see many new recipes on that website coming up soon, including diabetic friendly recipes.

Here’s a shot of the crowd…good thing Barnes & Noble provided seating!

Afterwards I met a few extra special fans…here I am with my hubby John and Joe, a sweetheart!

Thanks for coming and see ya next year!

I saw the areas you were having book signings and wondered why you didn’t cross the river into New Jersey to sign your books. Paul Deen was here recently at BJ’s Club to sign her book. Unfortunately I can’t watch you everyday as I work but I’ve seen your show all this week and I’m babysitting my grandson in Louisianna. I do enjoy your shows when I can see them and also I have tried your recipes and have found them easy and delicious.

So, try and come across the river to New Jersey one of these days.

    Have a nice day!

Rachael is the most personable celeb out there. She is soo sweet and takes the time to talk to the fans as she is signing the books. If you have the chance to go to a signing..go!!! Rachael is the best. My 5 year old daughter was thrilled to meet her and again she was so incredibly nice to my daughter and of course she signed her kids cookbook!! My daughter will cherish that and show it off to all her friends. Thank yiou soo much for coming to Connecticut! We love you shows and your books and of course your new magazine! Hello Rachael,
I’m a single guy whom had very little interest in cooking until I watched your 30 minute meals, wow I think even I can do that!!
Thanks for getting me off my lazy butt!
You are very entertaining and, BONUS, easy on the eyes.
    Thanks for making it easy.
    Best regards,
    Wayne

I feel in love with Rachael Ray from day one. I am a retired Baptist minister. I did an on line survey that was to give me her book on 30 minute meals.
It took a long time to do it and then it wanted me to spend money for something no one wold wish for in any way.
I dont think it is good to have this nice lady’s name associate with any such survey.
    She is better than that.
    Thanks

I appreciate your energy and persona, you definately add a “spice” to cooking. Do you plan to visit the south (Augusta, Georgia)? There are several persons “down here” who would love to see you, I in particular think that you are “stunning” and am in love, if only? I like other am retired from the (Cmdr. 0-5)and where I was forced to cook for my crew once a month (Submarine service) so also learned to appreciate cooking by that means and I now find you culanary recipies as delightful as you. Hope that you come see us down here. Sincerely

    Hey Rachel!
I’m not sure if you’re gonna read this or maybe this is not the place to write you but I coulnd’t find another way to reach you.I’m a 15 year old girl who lives in Cancun with her canadian mother and mexican father, but the reason I’m writing is in behalf of my mother who’s a BIG FAN of your show and of course of you too, well she doesn’t know I’m writing this… She watches it everyday and comes up with one of your recipes each time she’s in the kitchen! She really enjoys watching it because it keeps her mind busy and relaxes the tension of paying the bills and stuff like that and besides that, she enjoys every minute of it ( to tell you the truth, she’s even watching it at the moment!). I know it would be very exciting for her if she could meet you, but I’m realistic and I know not everything’s possible. Just to let you know you have fans like my mom who really enjoys your show and never misses it.
Thank you for being such a great example!
    Adios :)

Hi Rach! I was also fortunate enough to see you @ foxwoods on Saturday 11/10 (along with my mom, Christine, reply #36 :-)
I was nervous for weeks about what I’d say when I actually met you. When the time came and our part of the line (we were almost at the end) actually reached you I think you AND I were both too tired too chat! but it was still worth the wait just to see you! I would have said that I just love that you are so down to earth and so more like us “normal” folk than a fancy-schooled chef. I’ve learned alot watching ALL your shows and hope to learn even more as I continue to watch.
Like my mom said, thanks for being you!

  79. Oh, honey! I would absolutely love for you to come and help with a major family dilemma…. My gramma makes tamales every christmas and I have been helping by providing a place (my kitchen) and necessary more expensive ingredients (spices and meat). It ends up with her bringing the Maseca and the oil, and I nave to bring the rest. Last time we got together to do tamales, I got very upset because I didn’t cook them long enough and they were doughey. I felt horrible and left the family function in tears. I want to make awesome tamales for my family. Here’s the catch. We only have like a month to put this toghther.
If I don’t get any help to make these, We simply won’t have them. This is a long standing tradition, but I can’t do it alone….
Please, RACH!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!! I know that you can handle this with such style and grace (unlike me in my blue jeans on the floor mixing up the masa by hand…)

A reader named Kat on a post dated Nov 10, 2007 wanted to know about the spice used in your Nov 6, 2007 episode (the one where you cleared the air about your marriage being PERFECT~don’t you just hate those tabloids?!). It was Turmeric (you said the R is silent) and was said using a dash a day on your food is used as an anti-inflamatory (who knew?). I hope Kat reads this and it helps!

We get to line up again at around 6pm for the signing at 7pm. Everyone was very friendly. Can’t wait to meet my girl! Gonna give her The Pretenders 1st album as a gift as I think she digs that era of music.

Rachel was so geuninely warm and friendly - she listened, asked my daughter her name and gave her a big hug.

Thank you Rachel for treating my daughter so special and taking the time to autograph a few cookbooks to help raise money for the Cary Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Walk.

Hi Rachael! I just wanted to say that I was very excited that you were having a book signing in Cary last nite. My dad watches your show every morning (I’m at work), and we both love all your shows on the Food Network. He called me on Monday and put the phone up to the television so that I could hear that you were going to be in Cary. We made a date that nite to come on Friday and see you. No one else in our family was in the least excited, and no one that I told at work seemed to care, one guy just kept saying over and over, “Who’s Rachael Ray??” So the big nite came, we drove over an hour to Cary, got there 55 minutes before you were scheduled to appear, finally found a parking space and almost literally crawled over the people to get in. I found one of your new cookbooks, Just In Time, on the table at the door, and my dad, who is six foot three, tried to find the end of the line at a register so we could buy your book. He asked one lady if this was the line for the registers, and she said, “This is 76-100.” My dad said, “76-100, what?” We had NO idea that you had to be there and draw a number. He found the area where you would be signing, and looked over the heads of all the people, but you had not arrived yet. We made our way back to the door and asked what these bracelets were about. The lady said that it was all over the news, radio, website, etc. Needless to say, we did not get to see you last nite, and we were very disappointed. I had even brought you a box of Ritz crackers as a joke, although I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times before, (I was going to say, “Hey Rachael, I found your Ritz.”) I thought it might be a nice diversion from having your cookbook shoved at you all nite. And my dad brought you a biscotti. He even made up a sad Rachael Ray song on the way home to make me laugh. I guess next time we will know better. Hope to see you soon.

    Hi Rachael!

I was SUPER excited to hear that you were coming to Cary, NC. My new husband and I recently moved down to North Carolina from Michigan so we got directions to the Barnes and Noble and headed out to see you. I was so excited I could barely contain myself. I was prepared with my cookbook that we had registered for and ready to get an autograph and meet the person that I watch on the most of Food Network. (I watch 30 Minute Meals everyday, as well as your other shows!) When I got to the book store, I was quickly disappointed. I had NO idea that I needed a wrist bracelet to get in line to see you. If I would have known, I would have been camping out waiting to get one! I am still very happy that I was able to at least see you but would have loved to actually meet you! Hopefully you will be back to the area soon!

Hope you have a great holiday!

Evening all - I just came back from Borders - Torrance, CA to get some info on the up-coming book signing. They had a sheet listing the rules & regs for the signing. I was shocked to see that “no photos” was listed. Because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet such an influential person - is there any exception to this rule? Was this same rule enforced at other signings? Thanks.

    Dear Rach,

I met you last night at Sur La Table in Vegas. I was so excited to meet you, you are a hero of mine. We sometimes forget that our heroes are human. I caught you on an “Icy Hot” break, and it dawned on me how demanding we can be as fans. We should be much more appreciative than we are about the lengths you go to to give us the inspiration and ideas that you give us. Not just anyone would risk carpal-tunnel syndrome, just to see that fans have signed books. Aside from supporting your career and buying your books, please let us know what we can do as fans to be not only supportive of your ideas, but supportive of your time and health as well.

    Keep up the awesome work!

For over a month I wondered what I was going to say to you when it was my turn. but when it was my turn..I completely froze up. I got myself so excited that I couldnt say anything. So I just wanted to say thank you for making cooking so much fun. I hated cooking until you came into my cooking world and made me want to cook more. You taught me to have fun with it. 149. Hi Rachael Ray,
My name is Amy and I watch your show all the time. I’m a stay at home mom and all I do is cook, cook ,cook! Blah for me sometimes. I never know what to cook until I started watching your show. Your cooking so many different dishes has opened my eyes to the possibilities that are out there. I love how you get so involved in the guests on your shows everyday. That is so frantic and outrageous of you how you keep up with all of them and cook at the end of your shows. I marvel over everything I watch daily. I saw how you were giving out free digital cameras all this month of December. That is really thoughtful of you and your crew to do. Thumbs up and toes too heeheehee! I loved the Donkey idea to helping others and your so right your friend has a huge heart of gold to donate Donkey’s, fly nets, and goats etc…nothing like a beautiful warm feeling helping someone year round with picking up firewood by A [FOREVER] Donkey. The female (moms) over in country’s that need extra help like that don’t get harmed or killed while just trying to cook for the family. I really am greatful for everything you have helped families with too Rachael. Hope to one day get to meet you. If not I will always have your show to watch. Have tons of fun with cooking as usual and A Glorious of Holiday’s to you and yours and to your friend’s too.-TC-Amy Lynn

Hi Rachael - I was so excited that you were in Minneapolis. I drove 4 hours from WI to see you with my sister and bf! I hope you enjoyed the book I made for you. It’s special that you connect to so many people over the tv. I have watched you on the food network for years and was super excited to see that you are just as fun in person. I hope you take some time off after all this work and enjoy family and life! Keep going and smiling!

    Hi Rachael!
It was wonderful getting to FINALLY see you in person at the book signing tonight at Borders in Birmingham, Michigan. Like many others I stood in line in 22 degree temps from 6:30am til 8am……then from 4pm til nearly 6:30pm in Borders.
I feel like such a jerk! As many others have said there were so many things that I wanted to say to you when I saw you but between becoming tongue tied the second I got to the table (unusual for me!)….and the Borders people rushing us through (practically pushing us) my mind went completely blank. Like an idiot I yelled “Rachel Ray!!” to you, I am also the one who gave you the drawing of Isaboo that I had done…..you appeared to like it, I sure hope so! I told you I was “honored” to meet you (which is soooo true!) but due to being tongue tied and pushed through (like the little kid on the slide in the Christmas Story)….I never was able to tell you how wonderful I think every endeavor that you are a part of is. I love your magazine, show, cookbooks, Food Network shows, etc, etc…….you have a beautiful heart and spirit that just oozes through you…I hope Borders did give you the picture of Isaboo that they promised me they would (after they took it from you when I had given it to you)….My husband was in complete awe of you as well……..I have to hand it to you. I babble like an idiot, I am never at a loss for words……..YOU are the first one who made me shut up completely due to nerves (and the “Border Patrol” at Borders!!)
Happy Holidays to you, John, Isaboo and your entire family! We love you Rach!

    Hi Rachael,
My mother, cousin, and I went to your book signing last night at the Borders in Birmingham. It was actually pretty cool to see you in person. I’m so used to looking at you on the T.V. because I absolutely LOVE to cook. Only being 11 years old, I think it is awesome to get to say,”I SAW RACHAEL RAY!!!”
Well… the only thing that I didn’t quite like was that only the beginning of line got to take up-close pics with you. I was sadly stuck in the green section where no one was allowed to even talk to you barely. Luckily, I still got a personalized signing. This is just a shout out to all thosde Borders workers who pushed and shoved to get the line to move quicker. First, my mom tried to take one picture when my cousin and I walked up to you and the lady said, “NO PICTURES! NNNOOOOO!!!:-(” And second, when you had finished signing our books, the lady in charge took them and we almost didn’t get them back. She didn’t even try to hunt us down to give us our books back. Anyway… I just would like to thank you for your time showing up and signing your GENIUS cookbook!!!

    -Leanna

    Hey Rachael!

Met you in Birmingham with my daughter and it was very cool for sure! Saw President Clinton on the show and it was great. Anthony Maurizo, I like that picture above with you and Rachael. I have a Polo hat just like that but its khaki. Would you happen to be Anthony, the wrestling columnist?

Anyways, 40 Dollars a Day is certified FIRE…I LOVE THAT SHOW. Keep it real Rach, and hope to see you again soon.

    Hi Rachel,

Love your show. I have several of your cookbooks and was wondering if you had thought about doing a cookbook that had all of the recipes from your show for a year?

    Thanks,
