I have great memories of my mom she was always so excited about christmas she would always figure ways to get us the special things that we wanted even if she had to scrimp on other things like paper. One christmas to make sure the presents were wonderful for us she wrapped everything in the newspaper comics she had saved for weeks from the newspapers she found at the laundrymat that she went to because we did not have a washer and dryer. You know I cannot remember what it was that I got that year but I do remember the time she put into making sure everything was great for us.

there was 7 of us in my family. On Christmas morning we found our Christmas stockings in our room, there were my mom's nylons filled with fruit and candy. the underwear and socks and a few small toys were place underneath the stockings. We couldn't see what we got for Christmas because everything was cover-up with sheets. The best part was trying to sneak a peak under the sheets to see what Santa left, but our grandfather was always sleeping on the couch nearby and always caught us. Before we could open up our presents we first had to go to church, usually the 6:30 mass. Then we had to eat breakfast and after eating then we could open up our presents. We usually didn't get finish opening everything until around 10 am. I carried on the same tradition with my own family. Only the stockings are different. no nylons today only pantyhose and they don't make a good stocking.
have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year

I love this story because it's so different from my Christmas mornings growing up. My brother is 3 1/2 years younger than I am and every Christmas Eve we would sleep in my room. We'd try and stay awake all night long and we'd still be up around 3am. We'd sneak in the living room and try our hardest not to scream from delight when we saw everything! We'd sneak our stockings into my bedroom and rummage through them before putting everything back in and hanging it back up. We'd only last about an hour before we'd have to wake up my parents, who never complained after being up all night. We'd open our gifts all together as a family and then start the clean up and put away. Once it was all cleaned up, my Dad would make, and still does make, the most amazing breakfast every Christmas morning.
Now that I have kids of my own, we open our gifts and do our morning traditions and then we head over to my mom and dad's house and it starts all over again! It's just like it was when I was little only bigger and more fun watching my kids enjoy the holiday. I love Christmas!!!

I had most of the same traditions but, my father would give my mother the excuse that he had to go to the bathroom. He didn't do that, he would come and wake me and my two brothers up, this would be like 3:30 in the morning. This is when we opened our presents, after that my parents would go back to bed until about 8:00. Then my parents would get up an make breakfast.
After that we get our best Christmas outfits on. Then we would go to my grandparents house where we all would gather with my Aunts,Uncle and Cousins for a big ham dinner.
That was the best part, gathering, laughing, an sharing our presents with each other.
My Christmas wish is that everyone has a Happy and Healthy Holiday.

We have a couple of traditions,
1. The Pickle ornament (a German tradition) is hidden on the tree and who ever finds it gets a special present. We usually do a family game or something everyone can use so there are no hurt feelings on not finding the pickle.

2. "petend" Christmas, my sister has a step-daughter that they share on Christmas day so either the weekend before or after Christmas we all go to my parents and have our family Christmas. Very busy with 6 kids, grandparents, great-grandmas, aunts, uncles and cousins of all types! We treat it just like a regular Christmas morning getting up and doing stockings from grandma and all the gifts etc.. So our kids get 2 Christmas mornings basically, one family filled busy one and one quiet one at our house.

Normally my husband will go out with the kids to get the tree and we decorate as a family. on Christmas morning the kids get up whenever. This Christmas my eldest was up at 5am! The tv is normally going so they get to watch all of the Christmas versions of their favorite cartoons. they can open up their stockings when they get up but they must leave the presents until everyone else is up. We also have the rule that you are not allowed to wake anyone else up. But my husband normally has all the kids up before 7. then we take turns to open presents. Because I live in New Zealand Christmas is in the summer and a lot of the toys are for the outdoors so often their are remote controlled planes (or the like) flying around the neighborhood before 8am. The kids eat what ever they want for breakfast candy is usually the favorite!
