Happy Howloween from Baloo

Monday night was Animal Fair’s Magazines 9th annual Howloween Pet Costume Party, with proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of New York.  Apparently, I spent too much time barking at the big dogs and shivering pathetically last year, so I was not allowed to attend the event– but in spite of this setback, I am here to let you know it has my full support.  Rescue dogs like Isaboo and me have to pack together!

And speaking of packs, Isaboo and I would love to hear how you and your pack are dressing for Howloween.  Pet packs and people packs both, send us all the spooky details.  Be safe trick-or-treating, and remember dogs need to wear light, reflective clothing just like kids!  And we’d love to hear if you’ve found any creative ways to support your local Humane Society!

Now please, sit, stay, and check out these pictures of some very creatively costumed canines I’ve fetched for you.  It’s strange how little they look like their owners when they’re all dressed up, hunh?  My only regret was that I wasn’t there to smell them.  I’ll never understand how humans think you can appreciate a costume without getting a good whiff of its smell.  Silly humans.

Owner Cie Nicholson, wearing her invention the PupToGo, and her dog, Luke.  Luke is lucky to have a PupToGo.  If Evette had one, maybe I could have come to Howloween too.  Whine!

Penny Lane, looking elegant in a checkered coat.  She was adopted from the Humane Society five years ago.

Emily, dressed as a reindeer.  She looks a little shy, and a little like an Ewok, but I bet she got that rustic reindeer smell right.  You go, Emily!

This ladybug is Madison, and she wanted everyone to know she super loves Nutrish.  Know how you feel, Madison.  I could go for some Nutrish right now..  Writing makes me hungry.

Batman, a fellow Chihuahua and winner of “Most Newsworthy Costume.” And he looks great in those shades, I’m going to have to heel myself. Some of his people family is in the US Air Force, just like some of my Evette’s family, so I think we have a lot in common. You go ahead and email me here, if you’re reading this Batman.  Ruff!

Will, painted like a Zebra.  Zebra or not, I would love to give that Will a piece of my mind for being so big and fluffy, and nice, and big.  Bark Bark Bark!

Khaleah, toting Shaden, who is dressed as the Next Next Karate Kid.  I myself practice Baloo Fu.

This is “Eli the Celebrity Chihuahua” and his owner Karen Biehl, dressed as Pope Eli the First, and a sexy nun.  They were hoping to win the “Most Controversial Category,” but I think it’s more controversial that this Eli calls himself “the” Celebrity Chihuahua when I am around.  Grrr …

One of the Rescue Ink Team.  They save pit bulls, like Isaboo, and my friend Jobi.  Look like ‘em, too.

Interior Designer Geoffrey Bradfield, and his highly sophisticated pooch, Mr. Willoughby.

Lola, black pug and flapper

Tuffy (The Chihuahua/Poodle Mix w/ the red Mohawk)

And even Wendy & Lucky Diamond got into the action with Wendy dressed a member of law enforcement and Lucky as the “Balloon Boy” cleverrrr…

Here they are with a fantastic Michael Jackson impersonator!!

My (rescue) dogs dress in mud and don’t like to be held (patted extensively, but not held. I love them as much as anyone above but think dressed dogs look dumb.
