How do I get our no-kill shelter on your website? I am a volunteer at Mostly Mutts Inc, a no-kill dog shelter in PA. We presently have over 100 dogs. We rescue, rehabilitate and try to from "forever homes" for these wonderful dogs. If no home is available, they find a lot of TLC at our shelter. Cheryl Hill, is the owner, and she started the shelter, and paid all expenses for it, over 10 years ago. We volunteers do fundraising to raise much needed $ to help defray the tremendous costs of food, heat, air conditioning in the summer, meds., toys, supplies and spay-neutering. Also, are they grants available through Rachael's love of animals that we could apply for? Thank you for any information and help.

Thank you Rachel Ray for a very good product for my babies (Poodles - 1 miniature and 1 teacup). I would like to enter them both in the contest. How do I go about doing that?

Dear Rachel, I'm writing to let you know that there are other "animal angels" beside you that really do care for our furry babies. In the early morning of May 14, of this year my house burned down, beside 2 of my kids being asleep, we had 3 dogs one was adopted from the North Shore Animal League, 8 cats that were neighbor hood strays we took in, and my Quaker parrot Brooklyn.
The kids thought quick to get as many of the animals out of the house but unfortunately we lost 3 cats Duke, Dot and Rolly. Rolly was the oldest, 10 years old Duke was 1 1/2 and Dot was just under a year. Brookly also didn't survive due to the smoke. The dogs were ok and able to move into my in laws with us the cats however needed medical care for smoke inhalation. The Doctors and staff at Garden City Animal Hospital on Denton Ave. in New Hyde Park took in 4 of the cats for 3 weeks, gave them the medical care they needed and had the three cats cremated all at no charge to us. They also took up collections of clothing money and pet supplies.
During the days that followed that was such a great relief to know that all our animals were being
so well cared for. I am forever grateful for them. When we found a house that we could rent and would take all the animals we were all reunited and now everyone if finally adjusted to there new enviorment.
I just wanted to share this story with you.
P.S. One of the cats we call Mom jumped out the window and down a tree during the madness and we found her 4 days later.

I want to say how wonderful it is to have people like you in the world. The mutts madness contest is such a great gift to animals everywhere. I have voted every week. Animals are a gift and the most treasured gift you can have and when someone comes along and takes in animals that have already suffered and nurses them and cares for them the rest of their lives is an angel in my eyes. Hats off to Susan Morino of Angels Gate. Thank you Rachel Ray for your love and support of all animals

I was watching the show this morning and am truly grateful for Rachael Ray and trying to help all of these animals. It is horrible to see all the pets that are abandoned and need homes. I have a pitbull/lab/german sheperd mix that I rescued from our local shelter, and he is an incredible dog. He is so playful and plays with my fiance's and I's new puppies like they were human babies. I do not agree with the banning of certain breeds. I think, that just like with people, each dog is different and there are so many things that can happen in the early life of a puppy to determine its outcome. Thank you, Rachael Ray for promoting the saving of animals and helping them, and for trying to help change the "rap" of pitbulls.

Dear Rachel and Producers,

I just wanted to thank you for the Mutt Madness contest and let you know about my experience with Angel's Gate. During the aftermath of Katrina I worked with the founder of Angel's Gate, Susan Marino in New Orleans. While we all worked hard to save as many animals from the floods that we could, Susan Marino was TIRELESS. We would work 16 hours a day caring for the rescued dogs and fall into our car (where we were sleeping) for about 4 hours sleep every night. I don't think Susan slept. She would wake us up at the crack of dawn to get started again as all of the animals in our care needed help. While most of us stayed a couple of weeks and had to get back to our lives, Susan stayed for months. While I have not been to her place in NY, I know the person she is the and dedication she has. She is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Good luck to Angel's Gate!

Well folks, POOCH is out of the competition. The two shelters that advancedinto the last round, Last Chance Ranch and Angel's Gate, are both hospice-related, and very deserving organizations. Congratulations to both of them and thanks to all of you for your support! Thanks to the entire team at Rachel Ray who put this wonderful competition together. You've increased awareness across the country about the plight of unwanted dogs, and you've helped us get on the radar of people in our neck of the woods, too. It's been a wonderful experience. Thanks, everyone, and don't be a stranger... visit us at www.pooch.org!!!
