TV PERSONALITY RACHAEL RAY TO DONATE MORE THAN $750,000 TO PETS IN NEED

The Best Selling Author Donates Her Proceeds to Animal Charities from Her Line of Dog Food Nutrish and new Treats Called Just 6®

Ray Has Partnered with Best Friends Animal Society® To Set Up Pop-Up Pet Adoption Events In 12 U.S. Markets She Will Visit Before The End of the Year

New York, NY (November 5, 2010) Daytime host, bestselling author and animal lover Rachael Ray announced today that she will be donating $775,000 to support charities, organizations and shelters that help animals in need by the end of 2010, bringing the total amount donated from her proceeds to more than $1.4 million.

In 2008, heartbroken by the thought of the millions of mistreated and abandoned animals taken in by shelters each year, Rachael partnered with Ainsworth Pet Nutrition® to develop a line of super premium dog food called Rachael Ray Nutrish and a line of treats called Just 6®, both of which are sold nationally.  As part of the partnership, Rachael donates 100% of her proceeds from each sale to organizations dedicated to helping at-risk animals through rescue, adoption, medical care and educational programs, along with training and outreach initiatives.  This major donation is being funded directly from those proceeds.

“It truly brings a smile to my face to know that this money will help so many animals who just need someone to care for them,” said Ray.  ”This donation should be credited to our loyal consumers and retailers across the U.S. who purchase Nutrish and Just 6 because they to want to help provide for animals that were abandoned or mistreated.  For this, I am truly grateful.”

As part of the donation, Rachael has partnered with the Best Friends Animal Society® to create pop-up pet adoption events in 12 markets that Rachael will visit as part of a nationwide book tour she is embarking on in support of her 18th cookbook release entitled :Look + Cook.”  Rachael Ray Nutrish and Best Friends, a nonprofit, membership organization building no-kill programs and partnerships, have identified and partnered with local area animal shelters and organizations that will help facilitate onsite adoptions, provide information about animal cruelty and help build awareness about Rachael Ray Nutrish and Just 6 donation programs.

Each local partner organization will receive a donation that Rachael will personally make in markets including Washington D.C., Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, San Jose and Nashville.

In addition, Rachael will be making donations to national organizations dedicated to the care, support and rehabilitation of animals, including The ASPCA, The North Shore Animal League and The Best Friends Animal Society.

We are a very small, poor rescue in North Carolina, that desperately need funds to save all the animals. There are so many dogs tied to trees with no food, water or shelter and when they have puppies, the owners throw them beside the road, in the woods or dump them in the high kill pound. We desperately need funds to try and save them. So many of them need to go to the Vet. and need medicine. We spend all our own money trying to save the ones we can. We need help so bad. Thank you for any help.

Ray Ray, My wife has a friend who keeps pot belly pigs that have been abandoned. She is a real inspiration to the community. People bring hurt animals to her to take care of. There is a site called skydive for free if you raise 500 dollars for your charity. I know of three knuckleheads who would skydive for your charity. My wife, stepson and myself. You could do your show from skydive sebastian and dedicate it to your cause for helping animals.

    Thanks

Im a member of the Sergey Foundation in Bellingham,WA.We are small but really trying! We provide emergency medical funding for low income families in our (Whatcom) County. The helped me last year, as a single mom, our sweet beagle needed her eye removed due to a tumor, there was no way this would have happened without the help from Sergey Foundation. Now I try to pay it forward by helping them. We are almost out of funds, and trying hard to figure out ways to raise money and get donations. Why should people who are low income not get help for their beloved pets? We also cater to older pets as well. We are reaching out to U, Rachel Ray! Let us know what U think, or any suggestions….
Thanks for all U do in the name of animals and good food!

    Hi Rachel,

Love what you are doing for pets.

Have you ever seen the TV show “Pitbulls and Parolees”? Villalobos Pitbull Rescue in Southern California is the largest Pitbull rescue in the nation wth approx. 200 pits at any one time waiting to be rehomed. This would be a great addition to your list of rescues that need funds because it must cost a fortune to feed and vet all those pooches.

I don’t know if they are set up as a charity or non-profit, it seems they just want to help the Pitbulls and the parolees a second chance at life.

    Thanks for your time.

  10. Rachel, please consider donating to Nevada SPCA No-Kill Animal Shelter in Las Vegas (www.nevadaspca.org). Nevada SPCA has more than 140 dog kennels for rescued dogs, specializes in rehabilitation, and receives no government funding. Thank you for your generosity for animals.

  11. Hi Rachael. I am a 20 year old girl from Sweden and I see your progam every day. And I look forward to seeing more episodes. I love your program. Actually I do not know what to write but I just wanted to write how much your program means to me!
Many thanks for that. and by the way, do you know where Sweden is maybe have you been there? I’ve seen that you have made Swedish meatballs haha. I really hope that you continue with your program for long because I have plans to go to America and try to come to your program. How fortunate it would not if I had to sit in your audience and see you and get to keep up with your wonderful program

    Best Regards Jessica

Please consider PALS (People Assisting the Lodi Shelter). It’s a completely volunteer org which rescues cats and dogs from the city shelter and is a no-kill facility. The animals are all neutered, given medications when needed, and are given all their shots. The dogs are also given some obedience training by a professional, because that makes them more adoptable. Recently, due to so many homes being lost in this economy, the shelter has been deluged with abandoned pets. The cats are all litter box trained. Right now PALS has been given a large plot of ground to build a larger facility and the volunteers have been working hard with fundraisers to raise enough money for the building. It will cost more than a million dollars but will house many more animals which otherwise would be euthenized by the city.

  17. Please consider BUDDIES! They taken in many dogs that have no hope and rehabilitate them. If not able, they will stay there in sanctuary!! The owner also has given guidance to people with dog behavior problems at no charge!

  18. Jenaveve Miller said:

Please consider helping my two favorite orgs in Florida. BUDDIES in Myakka City has struggled to help over 8,000 dogs avoid euthanasia. They really deserve any help that you could provide.

The other is SPCA of South Florida which helps rescue abandoned, abused, and neglected horses and other animals in the Miami area. You would not believe how many malnourished horses they rescue every month. People just dump them like they are garbage, even papered Thoroughbreds. They also were pivotal in helping arrest two men (one who has already plead guilty) of butchering horses for their meat while still alive.

These people always need help to do what needs to be done.

    Thank you for your time.

Please please pleaseeeee consider making a donation or sending food to our friends at B.U.D.D.I.E.S rescue in Florida. They so desperatly need the funds and/or food to keep their services going. They help to rescue and rehab so many shelter/stray dogs who are in need of becoming adoptable pets. They are a family operated rescue who need your help in order to keep doing what they are doing. Please help!

  29. This small organization has just single handedly saved over 55 dogs and 15 cats from a hoarder situation in Graham, Washington. We have done it totally with money out of our own pockets and a few small donations. These dogs have all suffered from some form of neglect and abuse and most even have tested positive for meth and other illegal drugs.

Please help support this wonderful grass-roots organization in Washington state. The woman that run this group have worked tirelessly for weeks now for these dogs and many more chained, abused and forgotten dogs in our region.

    THANK YOU!!!

I would like to suggest Eagle’s Den Rescue in Clarkton NC. The woman who runs this shelter has MS and still she fights every day. She currently has 2 9 month old puppies in her care who were sexually assaulted when they were very young, along with their sister who died due to her injuries. They also have several other animals in their care and due to the added expenses of helping Faith and hope they struggle every single day to make sure the animals there are given the very best care possible. They could really use all the help they can get. They are amazing people!

  32. I think Buddies rescue , should get some help.. ANYTHING would be ver, very appreciated. They seriously need the donations and such a wonderful family.

I volunteer with a small GA shelter and dedicate almost all my free time to animal rescue. Here are my top picks for donations of food or money.

Haven Acres cat rescue in Alachua, FL is a private no kill shelter that takes homeless cats - it is a 501c3 and needs helps to continue their great work. http://www.havenacres.org/

Rikki’s Refuge is another great rescue that takes all species and special needs animals in Orange county, VA.http://www.rikkisrefuge.org/about_us/about_us.html

Angels that Purr, located in Tallahassee, FL is another wonderful cat rescue, privately owned. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/FL580.html

Winging Cat Rescue of GA has helped so many cats and also has helped with spay/neuter clinics in the state of GA. They have very dedicated volunteers and donations have been slow during this poor economy.http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/GA483.html

And Buddie’s Rescue in FL is a wonderful rescue where dogs are rehabilitated -often dogs who no one else will take

There is a shelter in our community who has really came in and changed the lives of the cats and dogs in this area. we are a small rural community with no funds for this type of thing. These people take their bill and food money to take care of these animals. I have never known them to turn away any animal. If you could help them they are most deserving. The shelter is Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence located in Pembroke GA. Their website is gardonline.org. Please consider them. Thank you.

  36. This is a wonderful thing you are doing and one of the rescue groups here in Albany New York, Out of the Pits Dog Rescue group, does amazing amazing work. We have done a fundraiser for them in the past. They have taken several of Michael Vick’s dogs and they do a wonderful job of not only rescue but they also educate the public about Pitties and they lecture at schools and different events around the state. If anyone deserves the help, it is indeed Out of the Pits. Check out their website and see for yourself the amazing job they are doing rescuing Pit Bulls.     Hi Rachel and friends. I am so glad to see when others do what they can to help with saving animals lives and be involved with being the voice for our beautiful pets. There is an animal rescue that is one of the best. Such good hearted people that really do make a difference in the lives of the animals. BUDDIES RESCUE is in terrible financial problems and may not be able to continue. If there is a way of helping them financially or even with food donations, I am sure you would be helping a honorable organization. These people earn their wings daily but could use some help staying air born. Thanks and DOG BLESS YOU!…;=}

  39. I think there are many shelters that deserve the help.

Eric bellows who has Pack Ethic rescue in Albany NY and has countless dogs. Some dogs were shot at lost limbs, came in as cigarette ashtrays, beaten -broken bloody and almost dead.

    http://www.packethic.com/

Eric Bellows of Pack Ethic deserves to get help. he has a 35 acre sanctuary where he wors with and rehabilitates dogs that were fought, used as bait, starved, tortured and many now have had a new chance at life and have learned to trust again. Hes a great man and I dont think we can say who is better or more deserving because they are all amazing, deserving, in need and they all deserve some help.

  40. Please help mr. Howard. A retired law officer who has 30 rescues and supports them all on his little 800 dollar income. He has to by food, meds, shelter costs with all of that and support himself which is not enough for anyone to live on let alone care for all those lovely dogs. He has genuine love for them all and if you look at his website you will see what I mean and I know your heart will melt.

    Thank you so much

  41. What a wonderful idea. I’m sure all rescues could use a little help. I vote for Alaqua Animal Refuge in Freeport FL
I am a Florida Pet Portrait artist and give back a percentage of all of my art sales to rescues.

  79. This is such a wonderful gift, Rachel!! You are such a lovely woman!! Hugs and Blessings to you!!

  80. Please help BUDDIES RESCUE! I gave 25.00 of our food budget, to help this rescue. I wish I could do more, and I hope they will be chosen to receive help from you.

  81. We Give a Thumbs Up To Buddies ,Circle Tail Assistance Dogs , Pet Castle Animal Rescue . We have a indoor facility for the youth in fall & winter .www.dogstrainingyouth.com . Again Go BUDDIES !

  82. Valhalla Canine Rescue helps hundreds of dogs each year. Just this month they helped over 50 dogs get out of horrible living situations when they removed them from a hoarder property.

Valhalla Canine Rescue is located in Graham, WA and 100% of the money donated to them goes to help the dogs. These ladies are total volunteers. I know I am married to one of them and they are they best!!!

  83. As Patti had already outlined above…..please consider valhallarescue in Washington. They have achieved what most would think impossible….saving 55+ dogs, and doing it before a fatal freeze hit the area. These dogs have lived in and through hell, but thanks to Valhalla Rescue, they are all starting to realize that there is a different life to be experienced. Some of these dogs were intimidated by something as simple as a carpeted floor, having lived their entire life in a cage or on dirt…Please, please consider them for a grant!

Please let Valhalla Canine Rescue in Graham, WA win. They just took in over 50 dogs from a local horder. They receive little to no donations and really need the help. They are wonderful.

    Hi Rachael,

Please help us here in Washington State (Valhalla Rescue) has just saved and taken in under their wing 55+ dogs and over 15 cats in a horrible hoarding case here in Graham, WA. Some of these dogs are in horrible condition, matted, testing positive for drugs, being subjected to chemicals of all kinds and living in absolute filthy conditions. Some of them have not had the basic care and attention they need.

The volunteers and director of this rescue group are dedicated angels to the care of these animals and seeing they are placed into a loving foster home, however without the help of donations for the vet care of these dogs and to prevent them from going to a kill shelter, they need the help. They post relentlessly on Facebook and their website in hopes of people helping with donations for vet care, and in hopes of having enough foster homes to place these wonderful animals in that deserve a second chance.

Thank you for your consideration and all you do to help the pets in need out there that have no voice!

    Thank you!

    Rachel,
I have adopted 2 “special needs” dogs from VALHALLA CANINE RESCUE in GRAHAM, WA. They have recently helped rescue more than 50 dogs from a local hoarder, a lot of these dogs have medical issues from abuse and neglect and will receive the medical care they need thanks to Valhalla. Valhalla is a small rescue group that runs on donations alone. I have never known them to turn away any dog in need even when they know a lot of money will be needed to treat them medically. Including both my boys one of whom was brought to WA from death row in CA, we don’t know what caused Jimmy’s back leg/hip issues but Valhalla didn’t care that he has special needs and rescued him anyway! Thank goodness because he is part of a family now with a brofur also adopted from Valhalla who has a birth defect in a front leg. Valhalla didn’t care that it may take longer for these boys to be adopted they just saw the potential all dogs have to love and be loved. PLEASE help them.
Thank you very much for all you do to help dogs in need. (and your delicious recipes my husband truly thanks you for helping me learn to cook:})

I can’t thank you enough for what you are doing. This means so much to those who would love to do more but can’t financially. Rachel would you please consider helping the Valhalla Rescue in CA? Patti has been rescuing many animals from a hoarding situation and needs to continue to save them but needs the funds to do so. She has saved so many already and has vetted them and is currently boarding some. Her work is endless and these funds would surely help in her efforts!! Thank you!

  91. Rural Ga Rottie Animal Rescue are a worthy cause and would be very grateful for your help. Many Rotties have been stigmatised over the years and have ended up in Rescue through no fault of their own. Others can be found on our site at http://rott-n-kids.com - many can be found new homes with a little help. Thank you for your offer to help the animals - it’s nice to see someone giving something ‘back’ :)

Please consider 3 small rescues in Washington, Valhalla , D.R.A.W and New Moon Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary. They all do amazing work with little to no money and have been involved in huge rescue attempts. Thank you Rachel!

  94. Please please please check out Grayson Humane Society facebook page and consider putting them on your list.
They are in KY. Run entirely by volunteers who truely care. Every animal adopted by out is vaccinated and altered prior to adoption. they also treat sick and injured animals that come into the shelter, no questions asked, their vet bill is huge.
They recently suffered a huge blow to thier finances, (Hills science diet STOPPED providing them with free food from thier shelter aid program. No reason was given.) This has devasted them. This is a kill shelter that does everything in thier power NOT TO Kill. Funds are excetionally low, and they are trying all in thier power to continue giving thier intakes the best.
They get NO money other than from public donations.
    Please help>

  95. As anyone involved in rescue can attest, WE NEED HELP!

Just wanted to say thank you for the kind-hearted action you’re taking to make a difference in the lives of so many animals.

If you will also consider WV Pit Bull Haven as a nominee for financial assistance, we are the ONLY pit bull rescue in the state and are trying to expand our facility in order to help more, and turn away less. We work solely with shelters and law enforcement at this time because we just cannot take all of the owner release requests, we’d like to change that and keep as many out of shelters as possible!

    Thanks again!

It’s SO wonderful and powerful what you do to help these helpless creatures in need! Sometimes you can make a great difference by making an appearance, endorsement or anything of that nature (as you know). Surely you hear of many, many places that desperately need help. That’s why I ask you to please remember the Middle Georgia area. Southern Comfort Animal rescue, the Animal Protection Watchgroup, All about Animals rescue, to name some (all non-profit groups modestly living day to day on donations) because the Humane Society just can’t handle the load. This rural area has the greatest need (I personally) have lived around/seen…thank you again for your consideration.

Charity didn’t make it and Hope is still dealing with serious medical issues, but Eagle’s Den is there for them. They also help a Pit momma, who now has a new home. Bella lost her puppies and was so depressed. They rescued some other puppies and Bella raised them. And now they have another Pit named Hunter who is dealing with serious medical issues. These are just a few of the animals they’ve helped. And Beth has MS. Please consider them for a donation.

Please consider New Hope Pit Bull rescue in Charleston SC. I am very ashamed to say that SC is one of the worst states for dogfighting. New Hope has gotten many dogs (grown and puppies) from 3 different busts in SC just in the past 3 months. It takes alot to try to rehabilitate and rehome these poor animals whose lives have been torture. That does not count all the others that are just basically abused, neglected and unwanted. They could really use the help! Thank you so much for all that you do. I have always thought you are a wonderful person, and now I quadruple that emotion. I was recently shopping for dogfood at my local Wal-Mart (which I don’t normally do). I am a label reader, which you have to be these days. I was comparing all of the different kinds of dry dog food and was astonished at how the names of most of these products did not match the ingredients. I normally buy a brand called Innova, but is not available in the area I have recently moved to. I stumbled across the Nutrish by R.Ray, whom I am a fan of because she “keeps it real”. I asked myself, hmm.. what’s she got goin? I knew she had a dog. I read the lable and was immediatly sold. Then I read on and discovered that all of her proceeds go to help the animals in need. Awesome!!!! Thanks Rachael!! Keep keeping it real!!!! Shawn and Abby. P.S. Abby really likes it!!

We have rescued two Doberman’s so far, we always have two dogs at home, so the next time we have to replace one we will always go to rescue first for our next Doberman.
