TV PERSONALITY RACHAEL RAY TO DONATE MORE THAN $750,000 TO PETS IN NEED

The Best Selling Author Donates Her Proceeds to Animal Charities from Her Line of Dog Food Nutrish and new Treats Called Just 6®

Ray Has Partnered with Best Friends Animal Society® To Set Up Pop-Up Pet Adoption Events In 12 U.S. Markets She Will Visit Before The End of the Year

New York, NY (November 5, 2010) Daytime host, bestselling author and animal lover Rachael Ray announced today that she will be donating $775,000 to support charities, organizations and shelters that help animals in need by the end of 2010, bringing the total amount donated from her proceeds to more than $1.4 million.

In 2008, heartbroken by the thought of the millions of mistreated and abandoned animals taken in by shelters each year, Rachael partnered with Ainsworth Pet Nutrition® to develop a line of super premium dog food called Rachael Ray Nutrish and a line of treats called Just 6®, both of which are sold nationally.  As part of the partnership, Rachael donates 100% of her proceeds from each sale to organizations dedicated to helping at-risk animals through rescue, adoption, medical care and educational programs, along with training and outreach initiatives.  This major donation is being funded directly from those proceeds.

“It truly brings a smile to my face to know that this money will help so many animals who just need someone to care for them,” said Ray.  “This donation should be credited to our loyal consumers and retailers across the U.S. who purchase Nutrish and Just 6 because they to want to help provide for animals that were abandoned or mistreated.  For this, I am truly grateful.”

As part of the donation, Rachael has partnered with the Best Friends Animal Society® to create pop-up pet adoption events in 12 markets that Rachael will visit as part of a nationwide book tour she is embarking on in support of her 18th cookbook release entitled :Look + Cook.”  Rachael Ray Nutrish and Best Friends, a nonprofit, membership organization building no-kill programs and partnerships, have identified and partnered with local area animal shelters and organizations that will help facilitate onsite adoptions, provide information about animal cruelty and help build awareness about Rachael Ray Nutrish and Just 6 donation programs.

Each local partner organization will receive a donation that Rachael will personally make in markets including Washington D.C., Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, San Jose and Nashville.

In addition, Rachael will be making donations to national organizations dedicated to the care, support and rehabilitation of animals, including The ASPCA, The North Shore Animal League and The Best Friends Animal Society.

There are just so many rescues needing help, not only financially but fosters for animals. I hope it is ok to list more than one, as so many need financial help. B.U.D.D.I.E.S. in FL. RuralGa Rottie Rescue in GA. Mit Liebe Geramn Sheperd Rescue in WI. PRFL in Balt. MD. Second Hope Rescue in Leonardtown, MD. These are a few I follow, and there are many many more. It is too hard to pick just one!! Also NitroFoundationNitro in NY. The could really use a clebrity support in their effort to change animal cruelty laws. Eagle’s Den in NC. too.

Red Sky Rescue – http://www.redrock.petfinder.com/ – is a small rural shelter in southern Indiana that is desperate need of funds for food, etc. for the dogs and cats there. This rescue is 501c3 and being run by one amazing woman, Ruth, and two volunteers (all three are 50+ year old). Red Sky is handling all the animals from Jackson county, and there are just too many for a shelter that runs on limited donations. Any donations would be appreciated!

He has given his total life to the saving of so many animals. I don’t know of anybody who has sacrificed so much of his life for what he believes in and that is the saving and rehabilitating of every animal. He goes to every extreme to give them a second chance. Won’t you please help them with the feeding of these animals.

  17. Kitty Gordon says:

I feel so happy and humble to think that Rachel could do so great a thing to help all the precious animals in shelters. May God bless you. If only there were some way to assure people had to spay and neuter their pets and that there were more no kill shelters. So many helpless animals, including tiny new born babies being put to sleep is not right.

  18. B.U.D.D.I.E.S. in Florida works with alot of Pits. This is a great rescue that rehabilitates Pits. We all know that B.U.D.D.I.E.S. needs money or food to stay open. Please help..

    Rachel,
Please consider donating to Rural GArottie rescue.
Not only does this wonderful rescue save emaciated
rotties in rural areas but also from death row at many shelters where the dogs never make it on a website. I know someone who adopted. Rural GA Rescue pulled her dog as he was an hour away from
being euthanized. Today he is a part of a loving family and a vibrant young healthy animal.
The dogs in Rural areas just dont have much of a chance at all. Thank you for your kindness.

  27. Gisele Baka says:

Sadly it seems that every town/city has animals that need help. And every town/city has dedicated people that work tirelessly to save these innocent animals. I would like to take this opportunity and request that a donation or food be given to BUDDIES Rescue. This group continues to help starving, abandoned, abused animals and nobody is more grateful than an animal that knows his/her next meal is just a few hours away. This will be possible with your gift. http://www.buddiesrescue.com/
Thank you from myself and my three rescued pets.

  33. David says:

Valhalla Canine Rescue helps hundreds of dogs each year. Just this month they helped over 50 dogs get out of horrible living situations when they removed them from a hoarder property.

Valhalla Canine Rescue is located in Graham, WA and 100% of the money donated to them goes to help the dogs. These ladies are total volunteers. I know I am married to one of them and they are they best!!!

  34. Kimberly says:

As Patti had already outlined above…..please consider valhallarescue in Washington. They have achieved what most would think impossible….saving 55+ dogs, and doing it before a fatal freeze hit the area. These dogs have lived in and through hell, but thanks to Valhalla Rescue, they are all starting to realize that there is a different life to be experienced. Some of these dogs were intimidated by something as simple as a carpeted floor, having lived their entire life in a cage or on dirt…Please, please consider them for a grant!

  35. Anne says:

Please let Valhalla Canine Rescue in Graham, WA win. They just took in over 50 dogs from a local horder. They receive little to no donations and really need the help. They are wonderful.

  36. Valerie H. says:

    Hi Rachael,

Please help us here in Washington State (Valhalla Rescue) has just saved and taken in under their wing 55+ dogs and over 15 cats in a horrible hoarding case here in Graham, WA. Some of these dogs are in horrible condition, matted, testing positive for drugs, being subjected to chemicals of all kinds and living in absolute filthy conditions. Some of them have not had the basic care and attention they need.

The volunteers and director of this rescue group are dedicated angels to the care of these animals and seeing they are placed into a loving foster home, however without the help of donations for the vet care of these dogs and to prevent them from going to a kill shelter, they need the help. They post relentlessly on Facebook and their website in hopes of people helping with donations for vet care, and in hopes of having enough foster homes to place these wonderful animals in that deserve a second chance.

Thank you for your consideration and all you do to help the pets in need out there that have no voice!

    Thank you!

  37. Sarah Holland says:

    Rachel,
I have adopted 2 “special needs” dogs from VALHALLA CANINE RESCUE in GRAHAM, WA. They have recently helped rescue more than 50 dogs from a local hoarder, a lot of these dogs have medical issues from abuse and neglect and will receive the medical care they need thanks to Valhalla. Valhalla is a small rescue group that runs on donations alone. I have never known them to turn away any dog in need even when they know a lot of money will be needed to treat them medically. Including both my boys one of whom was brought to WA from death row in CA, we don’t know what caused Jimmy’s back leg/hip issues but Valhalla didn’t care that he has special needs and rescued him anyway! Thank goodness because he is part of a family now with a brofur also adopted from Valhalla who has a birth defect in a front leg. Valhalla didn’t care that it may take longer for these boys to be adopted they just saw the potential all dogs have to love and be loved. PLEASE help them.
Thank you very much for all you do to help dogs in need. (and your delicious recipes my husband truly thanks you for helping me learn to cook:})

  38. Paula Tillett says:

I can’t thank you enough for what you are doing. This means so much to those who would love to do more but can’t financially. Rachel would you please consider helping the Valhalla Rescue in CA? Patti has been rescuing many animals from a hoarding situation and needs to continue to save them but needs the funds to do so. She has saved so many already and has vetted them and is currently boarding some. Her work is endless and these funds would surely help in her efforts!! Thank you!

  39. barb says:

Please consider helping B.U.D.D.I.E.S Rescue in any way possible–they are located in Myakka City, Florida. Keith Wandell is well known for taking dogs considered to be unadoptable & rehabbing them. They are truly struggling & would be very greatful for any help you could give them. Thank you for caring!

  40. Ruthie says:

Keith Wandell @ B.U.D.D.I.E.S. Rescue needs assistance with food/monetary donations. They are located in Myakka City, Florida. This is a family run rescue that takes in dogs no one else will. They depend solely on the kindness of animal lovers to keep going. Please consider helping this wonderful rescue.
    Thank you :)

  41. Dianna Aaron says:

    B.U.D.D.I.E.S Rescue please!!!

  42. Rural Ga Rottie Animal Rescue are a worthy cause and would be very grateful for your help. Many Rotties have been stigmatised over the years and have ended up in Rescue through no fault of their own. Others can be found on our site at http://rott-n-kids.com – many can be found new homes with a little help. Thank you for your offer to help the animals – it’s nice to see someone giving something ‘back’ :)

  43. carmen says:

Please help Valhalla animal rescue in Graham washington. They have been rescuing horded dogs and cats from one home for over a month now. Any amount of help would be so appreciated. Love your show.

  44. Pat Rutz says:

Please consider 3 small rescues in Washington, Valhalla , D.R.A.W and New Moon Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary. They all do amazing work with little to no money and have been involved in huge rescue attempts. Thank you Rachel!

  45. Gill says:

Please please please check out Grayson Humane Society facebook page and consider putting them on your list.
They are in KY. Run entirely by volunteers who truely care. Every animal adopted by out is vaccinated and altered prior to adoption. they also treat sick and injured animals that come into the shelter, no questions asked, their vet bill is huge.
They recently suffered a huge blow to thier finances, (Hills science diet STOPPED providing them with free food from thier shelter aid program. No reason was given.) This has devasted them. This is a kill shelter that does everything in thier power NOT TO Kill. Funds are excetionally low, and they are trying all in thier power to continue giving thier intakes the best.
They get NO money other than from public donations.
    Please help>

  46. Jo S says:

As anyone involved in rescue can attest, WE NEED HELP!

Just wanted to say thank you for the kind-hearted action you’re taking to make a difference in the lives of so many animals.

If you will also consider WV Pit Bull Haven as a nominee for financial assistance, we are the ONLY pit bull rescue in the state and are trying to expand our facility in order to help more, and turn away less. We work solely with shelters and law enforcement at this time because we just cannot take all of the owner release requests, we’d like to change that and keep as many out of shelters as possible!

    Thanks again!

  47. Janet Henthorn says:

Hello Rachael Ray – Please help the dogs of VALHALLA CANINE RESCUE in GRAHAM,WA. We need help to ensure all the Graham Hoarder dogs and other dogs in similar situations in our area can be helped – via Valhalla Rescue – http://secondchance.chipin.com/graham-hoarder-dogscats — We are currently 501c3 PENDING – We are involved in a Hoarder case, where we are trying to save as many dogs & cats as we can – We kindly just ask you to help us in helping them. Thank you for your support ♥

  48. P Ranstrom says:

Please consider B.U.D.D.DI.E.S.Rescue in FL and Villalobos in CA. These are monumental rescues, especially Villalobos, The sacrifices the super humans who run these rescues have made to keep these rescues open and functional is awesome and they are very deserving of financial help.

  49. Amanda says:

It’s SO wonderful and powerful what you do to help these helpless creatures in need! Sometimes you can make a great difference by making an appearance, endorsement or anything of that nature (as you know). Surely you hear of many, many places that desperately need help. That’s why I ask you to please remember the Middle Georgia area. Southern Comfort Animal rescue, the Animal Protection Watchgroup, All about Animals rescue, to name some (all non-profit groups modestly living day to day on donations) because the Humane Society just can’t handle the load. This rural area has the greatest need (I personally) have lived around/seen…thank you again for your consideration.

  50. Bonnie Escobar says:

Ms Ray I have tried to contact you for a couple of reasons one I wanted to see if you would share a story about your pitbull with me for a book that I am putting together and then I got a message that you may be helping a shelter well Ms Ray this is a dream of mine and I have put together a 501 3c by myself I have had no help but I want to have a place like Best Friends in Utah in Florida where NO animal ever has to be murdered and the money is used for the animals instead of big fancy building like some orgranizations do == My moto is God gave us dogs to find pure love. Ms Ray a grant from you and your organization in enable me to buy a large piece of land to get started — please help me help the animals. God Bless
