Home made furniture polish

The Cleaning Lady has posted many blogs on using natural products like vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice to clean your house. One topic that hasn’t been addressed is making your own furniture polish. Commercial furniture polish inevitably comes in an aerosol spray can and smells like gasoline with some artificial lemon scent thrown in for good measure. There are some harsh chemicals in some cleaning agents that you don’t need to keep your house clean.

You can make your own lemon furniture polish by combining:

the juice from one lemon

3 tablespoons water

2 teaspoons olive oil

Put mixture in a spray bottle and shake. Spray cleaner onto soft flannel cloth and rub into furniture, then rub dry with a dry soft cloth. Shake bottle before each application. Olive oil can go rancid, so only make what you will use in a few weeks. Be sure to test a small section of the furniture piece first to make sure the polish works well.

Thanks for the tip!! I have taken on a new way of living very frugal. I make my own laundry detergent, household cleaners, baby wipes, and automatic dish detergent! But, I have yet to see a furniture polish. Thanks!
