You were so great about answering my questions for recipes to use with my new CasserOval I thought I would ask for help with some recipes for an upcoming party my boyfriend and I are hosting in honor of the Indy 500. I want to prepare some fun snack foods I can leave out without worrying about keeping the food hot or cold because people will be stopping by throughout the day. I want to do more than just put out chips, dips, and mixed nuts. Any suggestions?
Sounds like a fun party! Take a break from the typical cheese platter by preparing an antipasti platter with prepared items like Italian meats (think prosciutto or salami), a variety of cheeses, bread sticks (put them in a tall glass to add some interest to your platter), and marinated veggies (roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms are all good picks). You can put out a cooked and sliced whole ham or turkey with fresh rolls and sandwich fixings so guests can help themselves. If you will be hosting during dinner time, you could make one of the non-mayo based pasta salad recipes the night before to serve alongside for a complete meal. Then, pick one or two of Rachael’s simple but hearty dips or hors d’oeuvres (who doesn’t love a pig in a blanket?) and you will be set. All of these foods can stay out at room temp.
