We have a poochie bell and great white pyrenees dog. We trained her simply by ringing the bell ourselves, then saying "outside". It didn't take her long to figure it out. Now she just walk up to it and uses her body to ring the bell. It works great!

We had a quiet Dobie years ago. We came up with this solution. I just hung the bells on the door and rang them myself every time he was taken outside for business, saying, "do you need to go?". He figured it out himself and began to ring when he wanted "outside".

This is a great little trick! We'll have to teach our dog, Arbor to do this.

On the subject of trick training, I thought you might get a kick out of this cute little video. Arbor assists her humans in making a delicious frozen margarita drink. It was non-alcoholic of course to keep it doggie safe. Enjoy the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz3DjYAGBg0

Love to see some more training ideas!

My Sheltie twangs the spring door-stop in my kitchen to tell me she wants to go out. She just started doing it on her own. It's hilarious!
