We trained her simply by ringing the bell ourselves, then saying "outside". It didn't take her long to figure it out. Now she just walk up to it and uses her body to ring the bell. It works great! We came up with this solution. I just hung the bells on the door and rang them myself every time he was taken outside for business, saying, "do you need to go?".
