On Kappys Plate

One Word… Whatchamacallit

Half the fun of discovering a new restaurant is sharing it with people you know will enjoy it. As Rachael Ray’s resident restaurant guru, here’s an inside look at what I report back to Rach about some of my favorite restaurant finds and food experiences!

Hey Rach- Remember that chef I used to work for like ten years ago, Jason Paskewitz? Well, he’s currently the chef/owner of Gemini Bistro and Rustic House in Lincoln Park. Put both on your list. The thing I love about him is that everything he does is properly executed using the right cooking technique – he knows the basics of cooking and respects a dish for what it is. His crab cake has nice chunks of crab; his soup has a velvety smooth texture; his roast chicken is crispy and juicy… you get the picture. Anyhow, he does a great chips and onion dip at Rustic House and his homemade pastas/raviolis at both places are really good. And to note: He has a take on a ‘Whatchamacallit’ for dessert at Rustic House. Need I say more?

And that’s what’s on my plate!

You had me at Whatchamacallit!! I don’t know when I will ever visit Lincoln Park, but I am 100% sure that the day I do, I will be trying one of these desserts! That is by far one of my favorite candy bars of all times….so I am putting it on the list now! I will also be going to their website to check out the rest of the menu. Thanks for loving the Whatchamacallit, too!
