Subject: Off to a Great (s)Tart!
Hi Rach - I know you’re no stranger to Chicago, and the Park Hyatt for that matter, but I’m not quite sure if we’ve ever chatted about the goings on at the Park Hyatt’s NoMI Kitchen. A little over a year ago they underwent a full renovation of their kitchen, lounge, garden and spa…aaaaand, it’s pretty sweet - or rather, pretty and sweet. The chef, Ryan LaRoche, is darn talented: expect fresh, clean flavors with his seasonal cuisine and don’t get me started on the out-of-this-world tarts by Pastry Chef Meg Galus - That’s a whole ‘nother conversation! Check out hashtag #100DaysOfTarts on Twitter and you’ll see what I’m talking about. (These are two of the too many tarts I’ve had; a pumpkin version and a tropical version.) As for Chef Ryan’s food, everything from his soups to his standout salads to his award-winning burger and even his cheese/fruit/bread board…everything incorporates the freshest ingredients available and they will all make you very, very happy. I can’t sign off without mentioning the cocktails and their homemade sodas (sans alcohol). And as for the setting, it’s what you make of it: have lunch, dinner or a cocktail in the garden or relax in the lounge. Sit in the dining room with the massive open kitchen, or even at the bar or chef’s table. The sky’s the limit. Okay, I need to stop, I’m getting hungry. Next time you’re here, though…
