A Note from Rach: Breakfast is Served!

Each month, Rachael pens a personal letter to the readers of her magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray. Here’s what’s on Rach’s mind for March, and don’t forget to get your copy of the issue, out on newsstands now!

It’s ironic that I’m writing this welcome letter for our first-ever breakfast issue since I’m one of those people who know it’s the day’s most important meal—but often skip it anyway! My morning routine usually involves a large coffee and a liter of water at the gym.

As is the case with many folks nowadays, big breakfasts are a luxury I usually reserve for weekends. Same is true for CBS “This Morning” cohost Norah O’Donnell, whose family goes all out on the weekends (get her delicious make-ahead pancake mix). The only thing is, when I’m home visiting family, we don’t breakfast, we brunch. There’s hardly an easier or more affordable way to entertain. Think about it: Your ingredients are things like bread and eggs, and when it comes to cocktails, you only have to make one—a pitcher of Bloody Marys! My husband makes the best version on earth (we call them Bloody Johnnies), so whip up a batch and serve it with all the cool mix-ins. Now that’s worth getting out of bed for!

What we eat for breakfast says a lot about who we are and where we come from, which is why I love our “America, What’s for Breakfast?” story. We’re giving you one great morning food from each of our 50 great states, so get ready for some crazy-delicious dishes like biscuits with chocolate gravy and chicken and egg quesadillas.

I love BLDs—meals that are perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For this issue, all of my 30-Minute Meals fill that bill. Even my Burger of the Month has an egg on top. Because why not have a burger for breakfast? Seriously, folks, we’ve got breakfast from cover to cover, from morning beauty tips to the latest, greatest toasters.

So sleep in and enjoy your next morning meal!

Love,
Rachael Ray

cover of my jan/feb mag had comfort foods on it. do you have different covers on same months. my feb . mag doesn’t have
breakfast recipes. its SLOW COOKER. & Rachael isn’t on the front. Its ravioli with sage butter.
    hate to be a bother-

Just picked up the this issue — but can’t seem to find a recipe for the yummy-looking ‘pop tart’ on p. 79 — is there one?

You’re breakfast issue was fun to read, but in your breakfast across America, Pend Oreille, Idaho was spelled Ponderay. It sounds like that, but the spelling was so far off, I wasn’t sure what I was reading at first. I would think the folks in Pend Oreille are offended. I don’t even live there and I’m offended.
