A Note from Rach: Spring is in the Air!

Each month, Rachael pens a personal letter to the readers of her magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray. Here’s what’s on Rach’s mind for April, and don’t forget to get your copy of the issue, out on newsstands now!

This is the time of year to lighten up our diets, clean our houses and revive our routines after a long, cold winter. In my neck of the woods in upstate New York, snow mounds can still be melting away in the backyard as late as May, but by April we try to force spring along in our kitchen and on our plates with lean meats on green salads, lots of fresh peas and green onions, asparagus and baby vegetables, seafood and light soups. January may be the official resolution month, but to be honest, it’s usually the first warm, bright spring day that motivates John and me to put in more time at the gym and finally start crossing things off our to-do lists.

There are so many inspiring articles in this issue that’ll put spring into your step! Tear out our Month of Sensational Soups booklet, which gives you five classic recipes (chicken, potato, black bean and more!) and super-easy additions that will turn them into 25 different healthy and delicious meals. You’ll save money, too, with this issue. My pal Danny Seo’s amazing “Save Big Bucks (and the Planet!)” is full of surprising ways to save more than $1,000—without spending a dime! Then, enter to win some of Danny’s fave products in our Eco-Friendly Gadgets Giveaway!

Spring is all about new beginnings, whether it’s taking a food-focused vacation where you can pick up a cool new skill like baking, cheesemaking, even butchering or adopting a new beauty regimen (My tip: moisturize, moisturize, MOISTURIZE!). As the days get warmer, try leaving a window open when you’re working in the kitchen, or buy yourself some spring flowers. Walk when you can, instead of driving, and eat more green food. It always surprises me how changing just a few routines can dramatically affect my attitude, spirits and productivity.

Don’t miss my South by Southwest scrapbook chronicling my favorite party of the year. And, get ready for Bunny Day with our edible Easter eggs—and our second annual issue-wide egg hunt.

So hop to it! Spring has sprung! Enjoy the issue.

Love,
Rachael

i have to ask you how do u really feel about what is going on right now. The who going green thing is a way for more money. We do not even have the money. You might want to watch fox news.

Am I the only one who didn’t get the pull out soup recipe book? Can I print it from your website?

If healthier eating was made easier and just as delicious I believe people would take the healthier option, This is what led me to my latest invention and I hope Rachel would explore the possibility of allowing this product to be part of your product line,

Hi I am a viewer and have been for many years. Is something wrong with Rachael lungs? She seems to be be so out of breath when she speaks. Her voice is also getting very raspy And seems to be getting worse. Thank you for listening to my concern.
