The music never stopped

This is the first of many band related posts we are going to be writing as our photos and thoughts roll in. I’m going to start by talking about a few bands who performed on the stage upstairs (yes, we had two stages. I know, it’s pretty amazing when you think about it). Here Rachael gets ready to introduce her husband’s band, The Cringe, who played a truly rocking set. This band gets better and better every time I see them play, which I’ll admit is alot. They’re currently in the recording studio working on their third album and at SXSW we were lucky enough to hear many new songs. John Cusimano, Rach’s hubby, [...]...

The best party ever! Part one: The food and drinks

We rocked the house this year at the Rose’s (R) Mojito and Rachael Ray’s Feedback party at the South by Southwest Music festival. The party went from 12-5pm on Saturday the 21st at Maggie Mae’s on 6th st. If you were lucky enough to make it, tell us about it here. If not, let me describe the killer event you missed (go next year!). The Ancho Chicken Soft Tacos in action The Food We can’t talk about a Rachael Ray event without first mentioning the food. Afterall, these were her recipes served to thousands of people and I must say, although I am biased, they were delicious. For the record, anyone who is planning to host a party [...]...

A Cool Breakfast Spot in Austin

At the suggestion of one of our site visitors who posted a reply to our blog from Friday, I tried Las Manitas restaurant for breakfast before leaving town on Sunday. Apparently they are closing soon-sounds like a typical case of rents going up like we see all the time in NYC. It’s too bad-this place rocks! I had Huevos Rancheros and my friend had Chorizo and Eggs. Both dishes were served with refried beans and potatoes plus either corn or flour tortilla. The juices were all hand squeezed and for two full breakfasts with coffee and juice, we didn’t even spend $20. I hope this place opens up nearby because I’m going back there [...]...

More About Austin, the “Bat Capital”

As I headed out of my hotel this morning for an early jog, I was thrilled to find that there is this beautiful running path that runs all along Lake Austin. As I crossed over the bridge from 1st street to head down to the path on the other side of the lake, imagine my surprise when I saw this: Apparently, if you go to this bridge at dusk, there are tons of bats flying around. I didn’t see any doing any day time hanging around, but I am intrigued enough to try to go back. I guess this would be like whale watching somewhere else, as you can take a river boat tour and see the bats [...]...
