Over the past year, I have experimented with at least twelve different brownie recipes. While all have been good, I haven't hit on a go-to brownie recipe yet. I made this dark chocolate brownie recipe from Joy the Baker (who found it in Bon Appétit) and it is the current leader in the brownie race. I am surprised, because I usually like a chewy brownie and these were a little cakey, but dense and delicious. From Joythebaker.com.tags: desserts cookies bake more
Cheesecake it a perfect example of "a little goes a long way," which is why these cheesecake squares are the perfect size: one square is a one- or two-biter. Not overly sweet, there is a generous amount of lemon in this recipe, so if you're not crazy about citrus, cut the amount of lemon zest and juice in half.
Cheesecake can be tough to slice. Dip a sharp (non-serrated) knife into warm water before slicing for neater cuts. The thin slice of strawberry on the top hides any imperfections!tags: desserts lunch box cookies cheese bake food processor or blender more
I'm always on the lookout for a new bar recipe that's a little bit more upscale than your typical brownie. Think dinner party but your kids will also love them. These grasshopper bars fit that bill – elegant and delicious, and special enough for company. They have three layers and there is some chilling time required, so give yourself some time here, but they store well in the fridge, so you can make them up to four days in advance.

My son requested "giant M&M cookies" (note: I had never made these) as his birthday treat to bring to school this year. I made these huge sugar cookies studded with not-too-many M&Ms and they were a hit. They are huge and just as good as the giant bakery cookies kids (and adults) go crazy for.tags: desserts cookies bake more
Dipping any cookie – sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal, ginger – really elevates the cookie and makes it look like you've put a lot of effort into your final product, when it really only takes a few extra minutes for the chocolate dip step. These lace cookies are festive for the holidays and would make a great teacher or hostess gift. Just take 8-12 cookies and place them in a clear bag with a bow.tags: desserts cookies rice, grains and breads bake more
