Native American Fry Bread
This recipe comes to us from user Rosalie Harris.
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- Warm water – enough for a biscuit dough consistency
- Vegetable oil
- Lots of love
Mix all the ingredients together until you have a nice biscuit dough. Knead it until smooth.
Let the dough rise in a warm place in a bowl that is oiled and covered with a clean kitchen cloth, for at least 30-60 minutes. The longer you allow it to rise, the softer the bread will be.
Pour vegetable oil into a cast iron pan to at least half full and heat to medium-high. Pat out a handful of dough at a time into small disks. As you make them, place the disks in the pan and turn only once until a golden brown.
