“These cookies are great to make as gifts. They mail well. Fill a cookie tin with an assortment of these cookies, filled with a variety of items, walnuts, plum or apricot preserves. For seasonal additions use green, red cherries (dried fruit), or place a chocolate kiss in center for someone special.

Ingredients

  • 3 sticks butter, softened (or margarine)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Filling: Plum preservers, apricot preserves, walnuts, pecans, cherries or even chocolate kisses!
