Cleaning Wooden Bowl and Countertops
If you’ve got one of those beautiful maple salad bowls or a butcher block counter top, you are lucky. With age, these wooden items only get better and more flavorful. Depending on what kind of glaze they have, they are sensitive to one degree or another to cleaning agents and anything acidic. The safest rule of thumb with these wooden items is to stay away from soaps and harsh cleansers, because that will only strip the wood of the protective oil coating that will grow the more you use it. To clean the bowls or the counter tops, use course, kosher salt and rub gently in a circular motion. Then wipe clean with a wet cloth.
