Halloween Cookie Pops. A Treat for Your Little Tricksters.

Each year we have a little gathering at our house before heading out on our trick or treating excursion. It’s a fun way to get together with friends before the chaos ensues. I try to set out mostly savory snacks and a festive beverage for our guests so we can have some sustenance before all of that candy. But being the sweet loving mama that I am,  I also like to include one fun take-away treat for the kids. This year I decided to surprise our little ghouls with these super fun and oh-so-easy Cinnamon Candy Corn Cookie Pops.

I mean, come on. What kid doesn’t love a treat on a stick, right?

The recipe is so simple and fun, it makes a great pre-holiday baking activity for you and the kiddos. Think: rainy/snow day activity!! The kids will love mixing the ingredients, rolling the dough into balls, inserting the sticks and decorating. These pops can be made to suit any holiday or occasion. Bridal showers, baby showers, Christmas, Chanukah, you name it! You can decorate with any kind of sprinkle, nut or candy you’d like. It’s the perfect use for all of that leftover Halloween candy if you ask me!  I also like to drizzle them in chocolate after baking for a decadent treat.

The dough is a basic sugar cookie dough so it lends itself to a variety of extracts or spices for flavoring. I’ve made a dozen different versions of these over the years and they all come out so cute.  I even made a more sophisticated batch of these for a cocktail party and topped them with spiced pumpkin seeds. They were super delicious and such a fun treat alongside wine and cheese. Make whatever flavor you like and wrap them up in tiny cellophane bags, tied with ribbon and enjoy.

Cinnamon Candy Corn Cookie Pops

Makes 18 pops


  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 18 wooden popsicle sticks
  • candy corn for topping


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment or a Silpat liner.

2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugars on low speed. Add in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add flur mixture to butter mixture until dough comes together, about 1 minutes. Roll dough into walnut sized balls place onto prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart (cookies won’t spread much).

3. Top each ball of dough with one candy corn and press slightly to flatten. Gently insert popsicle sticks into each ball. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets before removing with a thin spatula.

Note: As you can see, I used some whole wheat flour in this recipe but I assure you, I wasn’t trying to make these healthy. Truth be told, I ran out of white flour so I gave these a try with a small amount of wheat flour. Luckily, they tasted great! Feel free to use all white flour in this recipe, just don’t use more than 1/2 cup of wheat flour for these. The texture will not be the same.
