Office Lunches Your Co-Workers Will Envy

Kiss boring sandwiches and overpriced food goodbye. It’s time to upgrade your lunch!

We chatted up Judy Zander, the talented gal who designs all of Rachael’s food transport totes and bags [1] – including some handy lunch bags – to get some insights on packing the perfect office lunch.

Her No. 1 reason for packing your own lunch is the very real savings on your budget. While it might be hard to move the needle in other areas, bringing your own lunch really makes a difference if you want to save some cash.

And she’s right: According to Forbes [2], the average American spends $10 on lunch twice a week, and more than $900 on this midday meal over a year. Yikes!

For those of us with longer commutes, Judy especially recommends this tip: “Freeze your water or juice bottle – nothing carbonated – and that will act as your ice pack.”  She also recommends packing healthy snacks like fresh fruit (“If you bring it, you’ll eat it!”), and always use an insulated tote [1] to keep your food safe.

For extraordinary lunches, keep these in mind, too:
