7 Things Every Cook Needs in Their Pantry
Sometimes, preparing a meal can take a little more time than you anticipated – especially when the recipe you’re cooking requires a trip to the grocery store. A busy day, a busy night, one more errand you weren’t expecting – we’ve all been there!
To help prevent that mad dash out the door for those few missing ingredients, we’ve created a list of 7 items we consider to be essential for any kitchen. If you know Rachael, then you’ll definitely recognize many of our must-have products (she even sells some of her own – like chicken stock!).
You may even have some of these in your own pantry – we know Rach does! Grab a notepad and a pen, and get ready to stock up on these must-haves that can save you in a pinch!
Tomato paste is a must! If you notice that your pasta sauce looks a little watery, a tablespoon of tomato paste can save the day as a thickening agent with great flavor.
An easy addition when you’re in need of a protein! Throw it into a stir fry or casserole for a delicious and more filling meal. Quick tip: Don’t forget to drain the tuna!
Canned beans are incredibly diverse. Add them to nachos, soup, or simply use as an easy, quick side with veggies. They don’t take much work and can add awesome texture and protein to any dish.
You’d be amazed at how many of Rachael’s recipes use stock! Not only does it serve as a liquid, but it also makes otherwise plain ingredients like grains shine.
Canned tomatoes are a lifesaver! Speed up the process of making a sauce or soup by keeping a few cans stowed away in your pantry.
As many of you probably already know, Rach loves herself some anchovies. They turn up the flavors in any meal for a salty treat.
